A ride on one of the famous San Francisco cable cars will cost you $7. It’s a fantastic way to see some amazing views of the city, immerse yourself in historic culture, and transport yourself up one of the iconic city hills!
3. Take a stroll along Crissy Field East Beach
Weather permitting, this gorgeous beach offers spectacular views of the Golden Gate Bridge! If you don’t mind walking over 4 miles then you can take a stroll (or bike) right from Pier 39 to the start of the Golden Gate bridge and take a pit stop at Crissy Field East Beach to catch some rays!
4. Visit Alcatraz
One of the most famous things to do in San Francisco is to visit the notorious former prison located on Alcatraz Island in the middle of the San Francisco Bay! There is so much to learn and discover at Alcatraz, and the ferry ride from Pier 33 is all part of the fun! There are multiple tours available from Alcatraz Cruises including a nighttime tour! Make sure to reserve your space in time as tickets sell out sometimes weeks in advance!
5. Take a look around Pier 39
One of San Francisco’s most popular tourist attractions, Pier 39 is a shopping centre filled with bars, restaurants and shops! There’s street entertainment in the centre most days! Grab a giant ice cream and take a stroll around the pier edges to spot the loud and lairy Sea Lions!
6. Catch some amazing views from the top of Lombard Street
Known as the “Crookedest” street in the World, Lombard street attracts millions of visitors each year. From the top of Lombard Street, you are greeted with fantastic garden views and views of the entire San Francisco Bay!
7. Shop at Union Square
Union Square is often considered one of the most popular neighbourhoods to stay in during a trip to San Francisco! There’s plenty to do including dining, shopping, and drinking! There are big names like Macy’s, Bloomingdales, SAKS Fifth Avenue, Tiffany’s, and Armani to satisfy all of your high-end shopping needs!
8. See San Francisco’s Painted Ladies
Nestled on a hill of Steiner Street across the road from Alamo Square Park are San Francisco’s Painted Ladies! A row of Victorian Houses, built in the 1890’s, painted in colourful hues that attract visitors from far and wide to photograph their beauty!
9. Eat a clam chowder bread bowl at Fisherman’s Wharf
Take a walk around the famous Fisherman’s Wharf and you’ll be greeted with places to grab a clam chowder bread bowl and other local delicacies on every corner! Picking which one to eat from is the hardest part! You’ll also find an array of restaurants and bars serving various other foods for the non-fish lovers.
10. Make your way through the bustle of Chinatown
As the largest Chinatown outside of Asia, the San Francisco Chinatown is not to be missed! It houses temples, shops, markets and some amazing food joints! It is undoubtedly one of the most densely packed areas in the city but an amazing experience to emerge yourself in!
