Cotswolds Log Cabin; a tranquil escape in the countryside

Log House Holidays is the perfect spot for friends and family getaways to escape in the peaceful countryside! I went on this trip with family for my Mum's belated 60th birthday present. We actually booked it a year in advance and there weren't many weekends to choose from which just shows how popular it is! With 8 cabins and being family owned it really does feel like a hidden gem with so charm.

Location 8/10: Located in Somerford Keynes just outside of Cirencester it's well located to explore the Cotswolds and everything the area has to offer! Equally, you could just spend the whole weekend relaxing at the cabin as there is still so much to do and unwind such as spending time in the hot tub, walking, going on the lake in your private rowing boat, roasting marshmallows on the campfire or swimming in the lake (not in the Winter!) It is also only 10 minutes from the Cotswolds Water Park which is ideal for those who love watersports. The only thing I would add is that it is very much tucked away and is a one way road to get there (with not many pull ins if someone is coming the other way so prepare!).

Room 7/10: Our cabin was called Moondara which slept 8 people with 4 rooms and was perfect for us! The beds were super comfy and all rooms had beautiful lake views. The only couple of things I thought would have been a nice touch to include would have been robes if you hire the use of the hot tubs, shower toiletries and bubble bath for the beautiful roll top baths! The only other thing was that it was hard to find the right light for getting ready as upstairs felt a little dark!

Dining 8/10: We stayed in for the majority of our weekend and made full use of the BBQ on our first night and made a roast with all the trimmings on the Sunday! Everything is there that you need and they really didn't miss a thing in the kitchen. We had a wonderful lunch at a gorgeous bistro pub down the road in Crudwell at The Potting Shed which I would highly recommend! There is also The Rectory which is a beautiful boutique hotel but can go in for drinks or food as well (it is one of the places on my list to stay!).

Value for money 9/10: For a 3 night stay (this is the minimum) Moondara is £1,500 for an 8 person cabin which included adding on use of the hot tub and bringing a pet. I think when you compare this to Forest Holidays and Center Parcs I think it is really excellent value for money as the quality/location/amenities are far superior and yet they are a similar price. When split between 8 of you its only £187.50 per person for 3 nights!

THE GETAWAY GUIDE FEELING 8.5/10: As a family we absolutely loved it - the cabin felt really special, peaceful and truly private! We would love to go for Christmas (although it is already fully booked for 2023!). The owners were really welcoming and would answer any queries and requests. I will definitely go again when I want an escape that is completely shut off from the world!
