Double Red Duke, England; Boutique English charm mixed with an American flair.

The Double Red Duke is really something special, as you drive up to it you instantly see the grand building and their iconic red striped umbrellas (their main theme throughout!). We stayed for just 1 night midweek after a cookery class at the Daylesford Farm which was around 30 minutes away! With just 19 boutique rooms spread across their outhouse and in the main building, it really felt like a home from home from the immediate friendly welcome on arrival to the with several cosy rooms throughout to have a drink, read a book and play games.

Location 8/10: located around 30 minutes from the centre of the Cotswolds and about 30 minutes from Oxford it was a perfect location to explore both. As we just did 1 night it wasn't our plan to do exploring but to just switch off relax and eat some great food! I have given 8/10 as you would have to drive everywhere when exploring, but it was definitely worth it in my opinion! You could do a night here and a night in one of the Cotswolds villages to get both experiences.

Room 8/10: we booked a cosy room as it was perfect for our 1 night stay. Even though it was cosy it still had a super kingsize bed and was definitely bigger than expected. The bathroom was very small though and my husband struggled with the shower due to height! They provided complimentary homemade cookies which were delicious and we slept so well in the cloud like covers. Next time we would definitely book the next room up for a bigger bathroom! I think it would have been nice if they provided bathrobes as well as it felt like the kind of place that would.

Dining 8/10: we spent the afternoon having some drinks and nibbles which were delicious! I don't know why this was so great but they gave you crisps in bowls which as a major crisp fan I loved.... All the food is cooked over fire and grills which meant lots of flavour! You could even sit at the bar around the kitchen and watch the chefs cook! We had a lovely meal in the restaurant in the evening although our steak was slightly overdone! The breakfast was very nice with a help yourself buffet which was included in the price, but if you wanted anything hot this was an extra charge but we loved everything on the buffet that we didn't bother. They had the best cinnamon rolls ever!!

Value for money 10/10: we got a really great deal on booking.com and as it was midweek was only £95 but would usually be around £130 which I think is fantastic value given the quality of room, location, breakfast I think it definitely deserves full marks!

Extras: both child and dog friendly (in specific rooms). Staff are super friendly and always around to ask questions or any recommendations for around the area!

THE GETAWAY GUIDE FEELING 10/10: I absolutely loved it from the moment we arrived, it just has the warmest feeling. Our favourite thing is to holiday in America, so we enjoyed the contrast of beautiful English decor but mixed with an American flair, menu and music. We have been to a lot of The Pig Hotels and it felt like a similar vibe but much more relaxed which was wonderful! We are already planning our next stay...and another Daylesford cookery class!
